Who We Are

Shall See Theater is a New York–based nonprofit led by East Asian artists, dedicated to bringing our stories and aesthetics to the American stage. Founded in 2025, we serve immigrant and first-generation East Asian artists who are often underrepresented in U.S. theater, creating accessible, multilingual productions that connect communities across languages and cultures.

Annual Plan (2025-2027 Season)

In 2026, Shall See Theater will present a full artistic season that invites both artists and audiences to take part in creation and conversation:
Grass-Sprout Play Festival (Fall 2026): a 5-day event showcasing 8–10 original one-act plays by East Asian playwrights—free and open to the public.
Mainstage Production – Miss Julie (Spring 2026): an adaptation reimagining Strindberg’s classic through the voices of New York’s East Asian community.
Workshops & Community Events (Year-Round): interactive sessions where participants can explore acting, design, and storytelling while learning how professional theater is made.
Glimpse – New Work Development: a mentorship and reading program nurturing emerging East Asian artists with guidance, rehearsal space, and showcase opportunities.
Boiler Room Bickering – Podcast: our biweekly behind-the-scenes podcast, where the team shares stories, creative reflections, and candid discussions about making theater today.

Together, these programs form a creative ecosystem—one that uplifts artists, educates audiences, and builds bridges across cultures.

Goals — Where Your Gift Goes

Your donation directly supports our artists and productions. Every dollar goes toward something tangible:

  • $25 – buys a vintage prop for Miss Julie (like a tea set or letter onstage)

  • $50 – prints bilingual programs for one night of the Festival

  • $100 – funds a costume piece or rehearsal rental for our artists

  • $300 – covers U-Haul rental hours for loading sets and lights

  • $500 – rents professional lighting equipment for one performance

  • $1,000 – rents an Off-Off Broadway theater for one full day

Every contribution—no matter the size—brings us closer to a stage filled with East Asian voices.

Donor Benefits

  • $25: your name listed on our website as a supporter

  • $100: complimentary ticket to our mainstage show (Miss Julie)

  • $300: invitation to an open rehearsal + creative team talk

  • $800: backstage visit & special thanks in our printed program

Together, we’re building a stage where every voice belongs.
