REPORTS TO: Managing Director & Artistic Director 

EMPLOYMENT TYPE: Part-Time

COMPENSATION: Unpaid

START DATE: Immediately upon hire

Position Summary

The Director of Educational Programs at Shall See Theater leads the development and implementation of all artist-centered educational initiatives, including fellowships, workshops, readings, and mentorship opportunities. This role is central to Shall See Theater’s mission as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit to bridge the gap between academic training and professional artistic careers, especially for emerging theater-makers from East Asian or historically underrepresented backgrounds.

Key Responsibilities

Program Development & Management

  • Design, launch, and manage fellowships and educational programs for emerging directors, designers, writers, and performers.

  • Plan and oversee public workshops, artist labs, staged readings, and masterclasses.

  • Coordinate program calendars and application cycles in alignment with production seasons.

Partnerships & Outreach

  • Build and maintain partnerships with schools, arts training programs, and community organizations.

  • Represent Shall See Theater at educational conferences, artist showcases, and recruitment events.

Curriculum & Artist Support

  • Develop program curricula and feedback structures in collaboration with guest mentors and artists.

  • Provide guidance and mentorship to program participants, ensuring professional growth and alignment with industry practices.

Administrative & Compliance

  • Manage program budgets, contracts, and reporting requirements.

  • Ensure all programs align with Shall See Theater’s nonprofit mission and IRS compliance as a 501(c)(3) organization.

Evaluation & Equity

  • Collect feedback and data to assess program impact and improve offerings.

  • Ensure diversity, equity, and accessibility across all educational programming.

  • 为项目参与者提供职业指导与发展建议,确保其与行业标准接轨。

行政事务与合规管理

  • 管理项目预算、合同与报告相关事务。

  • 确保所有教育项目符合 Shall See Theater 的非营利使命及美国国税局 501(c)(3) 的合规要求。

多元公平执行与评估

  • 收集反馈与数据,评估项目影响并推动项目优化。

  • 确保所有教育项目在多元性、公平性与可及性方面达成目标。

Qualifications

  • Native in Mandarin Chinese and fluent in English.

  • 2+ years of experience in educational programming, arts administration, or theater training.

  • Deep understanding of theater education and the pathways from student to professional artist.

  • Experience designing or managing artist fellowships, internships, or professional development programs is a plus.

  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.

  • Passion for inclusive storytelling and East Asian aesthetics.

  • Experience in a nonprofit or mission-driven environment is preferred.
