Position Summary
The General Manager (GM) oversees Shall See Theater’s operational, financial, and administrative infrastructure, ensuring that productions and institutional functions run smoothly from planning through closing. They act as the backbone of logistical execution, balancing budgets, drafting and managing contracts, supervising staff, and maintaining union compliance.

Key Responsibilities
Production Operations & Budgeting
Develop, manage, and monitor production budgets (including pro formas, per diems, payments, royalties, settlements, rider, etc.).
Oversee production timelines, scheduling, and logistical planning for rehearsals, load‑ins, performances, and strikes.
Coordinate with the company manager, production manager, and stage management on day-to-day logistics.
Contracts & Union Relations
Draft, negotiate, and execute contracts for artists, staff, vendors, rentals, and consultants
Maintain compliance with union agreements (AEA, IATSE, SDC, USA, 802), including meal/rest rules and payroll reporting.
Submit required union documentation and address any compliance issues.
Financial Management & Reporting
Oversee all financial operations, from cash flow and accounting to accounts payable/receivable and annual audits.
Produce accurate financial forecasts and reports for productions and institutional budgets.
Work closely with the Director of Finance and Director of Development to ensure fiscal health and transparency.
Human Resources & Administration
Supervise hiring, onboarding/offboarding processes, and employee relations procedures (e.g. grievances, performance reviews).
Oversee organizational policies, benefits administration, and workplace compliance.
Lead office operations, such as manage facilities, IT systems, insurance, and vendor relationships.
Strategic & Organizational Leadership
Assist the Managing Director with institutional planning, rentals, and project management.
Act as core liaison among Artistic, Literary Production, Marketing, Education, Finance and Development departments.
Represent the theater at industry events, board meetings, and partner negotiations.
Data & Process Improvement
Implement systems for union/staff paperwork, budget tracking, and contractual documentation.
Drive process improvements and documentation based on institutional needs, mirroring Roundabout best practices

起草、协商并执行与艺术家、员工、供应商、场地与顾问之间的各类合同。
确保符合各类工会协议(AEA、IATSE、SDC、USA、802)中的规定,包括餐休时间与薪资报表等。
提交所需工会文件,及时处理合规事务。
财务管理与报告
监督剧院所有财务运作,包括现金流、会计、应收应付账款与年度审计等。
准确制作各类制作项目与机构层面的财务预测与报告。
与财务总监与发展总监密切合作,确保财务健康与透明。
人力与行政管理
监督员工招聘、入职/离职流程与员工关系管理(如申诉、绩效评估等)。
管理剧院内部政策、员工福利与职场合规事务。
主导日常行政运营,包括设施、IT系统、保险与供应商关系等。
战略规划与组织协作
协助常务董事进行机构发展规划、场地租赁与项目统筹。
在艺术、文学制作、市场、教育、财务与筹资等部门之间担任核心协调角色。
代表剧院出席行业活动、董事会议与外部合作洽谈。
数据管理与流程优化
建立工会/员工文件、预算追踪、合同归档等制度流程。
根据机构需求推动流程改进与制度化建设,参考 Roundabout 等大型剧院的最佳实践。
Qualifications
Fluent in English. Fluency in Mandarin Chinese is a plus.
1-3 years of experience in general/production management or arts administration (nonprofit theater preferred), ideally in NYC. Educational experience and/or productions also count.
Advanced budget, contract, and union compliance experience.
Strong leadership and staff-management capabilities. Strong interpersonal skills.
Excellent communication, both verbal and written, with internal and external stakeholders.
High capacity under tight production timelines.
Familiarity with nonprofit governance, GAAP, audits, and legal compliance.
